We have been so busy getting back into the swing of school that our class has not taken the time to blog much lately. We will start working on that tomorrow, as we are on a "snow" day today. Unfortunately, there is no snow....
Anyway, last Friday we held our school wide spelling bee. Sohani did a great job representing our class. She was not our school winner, but we are so proud of her efforts. It is a nerve-wracking thing to be on stage in front of a large crowd of peers, trying to remember how to spell words. Our school winner is a fourth grade student, for the second year in a row.
Today is also Inauguration Day. I am hoping we can have a good discussion of this in class and be able to write down some thoughts about this day.

I am glad to see your post. I thought I had lost it. I enjoyed an extra day at home but I hate we "wasted" a snow day- no snow to play in.
I watched the Inauguration today. It was amazing to see the entire DC Mall filled with people- from the Capitol all the way to Lincoln Memorial. I enjoyed the music from Aretha Franklin and the quintet that had YoYO Ma playing the cello. They wrote the ballad just for today's ceremony.
My nephew, who lives in DC, was able to attend the Inaugural Ball with his wife. He received the tickets to the ball from his commander in the Navy. When he sends us the pictures, I will bring them in to share with you all.
I am looking forward to seeing what you do for the Science Fair in a few weeks. I always enjoy seeing the different projects. I know you will do a great job on them.
See you tomorrow!
Mrs. Spencer
